Professor Batina joined the Department of Economics at WSU in 1985. He received his
B.S. degree from Purdue University majoring in economics and his Ph.D. from the
University of Minnesota. His main research and teaching interests are in public policy in
dynamic general equilibrium models. He has published numerous journal articles in
top journals in his field and co-authored several books, notably Consumption Tax Policy
and the Taxation of Capital Income, with Oxford University Press, and, more recently,
Public Goods:Theories and Evidence with Springer-Verlag. He is currently working
on issues related to local tax competition, international tax competition,
the taxation of capital and also issues related to social security.
