- Chris Miller gets US State Department Internship ---In London!! Chris is an SES major who took some initiative, applied for one of the 1500 internships offered by the US State Department, and got it! Pending security clearance, Chris will be spending the summer working as a (paid) intern at the US Embassy in London.

- Hayley Chouinard is rated #1 (Theoretical Economics) and #2 (Health Economics and Policy) regarding most frequently downloaded articles from the Berkeley Electronic Press, August 2007.
- Ron Mittelhammer was elected as the first-ever President of Econometrics Section of the AAEA in 2007.
- Ken Casavant and Eric Jessup received the Transportation Research Forum Best Paper in Agricultural and Rural Transportation Category.
- Mike McCullough and Corey Walters, PhD students, received the AAEA Graduate Student Travel Grants to travel to the AAEA meetings in Portland, OR. Summer 2007.
- Jill McCluskey was promoted to Full Professor, on August 16, 2007.
- Tristan Skolrud, was awarded the CAHNRS Outstanding Freshman of the Year, 2007.
- Faysal Fahs, PhD Student, received the GPSA Teaching Assistant Excellence Award, 2007.
- Hayley Chouinard was nominated as an outstanding mentor at WSU through the Women & Leadership Forum, 2007.
- Hamilton Galloway, PhD student, had a poster accepted for the North American Freight Transportation Data Workshop, May 2007.
- Hamilton Galloway and Hayk Khachatryan, PhD students, were awarded registration grants from the Graduate and Professional Student Association, 2007.
- Lia Nogueira, PhD Student, was awarded a special research grant from the AAEA Foundation to further her research on the economics of sanitary and phytosanitary regulations in the Washington State Apple Industry, 2007.
- Lillie McComb, MA Student (2006), took a position with the USDA in Washington DC as a Budget Analyst for the Farm Service Agency.

- Ken Casavant, received the 2006, Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute Lifetime Achievement Award.

- Mariam Lankoande (Ph.D. WSU SES, 2005) has been awarded an Honorable Mention from the American Agricultural Economics Association (2006) for her dissertation entitled "Three Essays on Wildfire Economics and Policy."
- Tom Worley was offered and accepted a position as the Director of OSU's Off-Campus Research Center. (2005).
- 2005 News - We now have 150 total majors in the School. All UG degree programs increased from last year, except for Agribusiness.
- Ken Casavant and Eric Jessup in the Transportation Research Group was the lead-off featured research program in the Research Highlights Brochure issued by Director Ralph Cavalieri.
- Dan Bernardo was elected to serve on the AAEA Foundation Board (2005-2008).
- Jill McCluskey was elected to serve on the AAEA Executive Board (2005-2008).
- Marco Costanigro, Yucan Liu, Lia Nogueira, Poomtham Rangkakulnuwat, Cory Walters, Amy Puenpatom, and Caiphing Zhang received Grad School Travel Grants (2005).

- Both Mike Nelson and Richard Nelson pass their final PhD oral exam, 2005.
- Hayley Chouinard and Jill McCluskey received a grant proposal from USDA's National Research Initiative Competitive Grant Program, "Grocery Store Shelf Labels, Nutrition, and Pricing Information, and Consumer Choice." It was funded for $257,039 over 24 months.
- John Yoder authored an article in the new issue of the American Journal of Agricultural Economics, "Estimating the Structure of Market Reaction to News: Information Events and Lumber Futures Prices."
